It's 15 years since Hiplok made its very first sale, with the world's first wearable bike lock back in 2011. What began as a simple idea has grown into a global mission to rethink bike security through design, innovation and real rider insight.

From day one, Hiplok has been driven by a belief that Hiplok protects not just bikes, but the freedom and joy that come with riding. Combining product design expertise with lived riding experience, we've continuously challenged traditional approaches to bike protection.
Some of our core products have become staples within bike security. Game changing solutions have been created to address real problems for real riders. We call them our Hiplok Heroes.

Z LOK
D1000Hiplok ORIGINAL, launched in 2011.
Hiplok co-founder, John Abrahams' bike was stolen in 2009. But to him, it wasn't just a bike. It was the bike he took his son to nursery on. So, John and fellow rider and product designer Ben Smith, embarked on a mission to redefine practical bicycle security. They began with the design and launch of the Hiplok ORIGINAL - the world's first wearable bike lock.

Hiplok AIRLOK, launched in 2017.
As cycling security evolved, so did the need for smarter bike storage. While wall-mounted hangers helped save space and showcase bikes at home, they offered little in the way of real security.
AIRLOK combined these elements into one stylish and practical product. It became the world's first high-security bike storage hanger and remains the only one certified Sold Secure Pedal Cycle Diamond.
Hiplok Z LOK, launched in 2018.
Inspired by a simple rider hack, using a zip-tie as a lightweight deterrent on café stops, Ben and John saw an opportunity to create a smarter, reusable solution. And that's how the Z LOK was born.
A lightweight, robust café lock, small enough to fit in your pocket, strong enough to deter opportunist thieves. It quickly became a favourite among riders worldwide and received the Design & Innovation Award in 2018.
Hiplok D1000, launched in 2021.
Angle-grinder theft became the fastest-growing threat facing riders, and the industry didn't have an answer.
Hiplok responded with the launch of the D1000, the world's first portable anti-angle grinder lock. Engineered with advanced material technology, it set a new benchmark for high-security protection in urban environments.
This innovation later evolved into the 1000 Series, providing riders with even greater confidence against serious theft attempts.
Each Hiplok Hero represents a commitment to solving real rider challenges through thoughtful design and meaningful innovation. Many of these products continue to be trusted daily by riders around the world, protecting bikes and enabling journeys.
Over the past 15 years, Hiplok has also been recognised with numerous international design and industry awards, reflecting our dedication to advancing bike security.

Hiplok turns 15 on 17 March 2026.
Fifteen years ago, we sold our very first lock as we set out to change security for riders around the world. And what a journey it's been. From launching the world's first wearable chain lock to introducing the first portable anti-angle grinder lock.
We're incredibly proud of this milestone, but it wouldn't have been possible without the support of our customers, ambassadors, retailers and distributors. Thank you to everyone who has flown the Hiplok flag and been part of our story.
