FAQs

How to attach d lock to bike

DXF comes with Hiplok easy-fit bracket which mounts directly on to bottle mounts. This provides practical rattle-free carry option for Hiplok DX.

How to D lock a bike?

Lock the D lock to the bike’s main frame and the locking point. Where possible, we would recommend the locking point is a purpose-built bike rack.

How to lock bike with a d lock and cable?

Loop the cable through the shackle of the D lock and extend the cable through the wheels. Next lock the D lock to the bicycle’s main frame and your locking point. Where possible, lock to a purpose-built bike rack or bike loop.

Do D locks damage your bike frame?

Our D locks won’t damage your bike thanks to the rubberised anti-scratch design.

Can you carry 2 d locks on a bike?

With the right accessories, normally you can.
For instance, used with a Carry Pouch, you could fix 3 x D1000s to your bike (handlebars, frame & pannier rack). Then you could use a Hiplok Frame bracket to mount a DX, DXC or DXP to your bottle holder mount.

How to attach a d lock to a folding bike?

Lock the D lock to the bike’s top tube and the locking point.

Where to mount a d lock on a bike?

Popular places are the bottle holder mount, pannier rack, frame & handle bars

Is a D lock good for 2 bikes?

It depends on the size of the D lock. However, most people will use a chain and D lock to anchor multiple bikes to a single point.

What are the best d locks for bikes?

The D1000 and DX1000 are our most secure D locks and part of the world’s first anti-angle grinder range.

Can thieves break bike d locks?

With enough time and the right tools, thieves can break any type of lock, including D locks. However, your D lock doesn't need to be unbreakable to prevent a theft.
The purpose of any bike lock is to make it as difficult as possible to steal your bike, so that:

1) the thief is unable to break the lock in time, before being caught
2) that the tools the bike thief is carrying cannot break through the lock
3) the thief gives up before breaking through the lock
4) an opportunistic bike thief sees there is a lock on your bike, so never attempts to break it in the first place

In any of these scenarios, though the bike lock can be broken, it has done its job and prevented a theft.

The strongest D lock you can buy is an anti-angle grinder d lock (1000 series). These D bike locks wear down angle grinder discs, and are the only locks that provide any resistance to angle-grinders.
