Motorcycle LOCKS
Your motorcycle is more than something you lock up. It might be your daily ride, the bike you’ve spent years tweaking and upgrading, or the one you wait all week to get out on. We design motorcycle locks because we ride too, and we know how it feels to walk away from a bike you care about.
Our range of motorcycle locks is built around different bikes, riders and levels of security, from compact disc locks that are easy to take on the road to high-security D locks and chains for more demanding situations. The right choice comes down to where you park, how long you leave your motorcycle and the level of security you need.

What type of motorcycle lock do you need?
There’s no single motorcycle lock that’s right for every rider. Security for a bike parked outside your home overnight is different from what you need when you’re touring and stopping somewhere for lunch.
The main motorcycle security options include:
- Motorcycle D locks for high-security locking through the wheel or, where possible, securing your motorcycle to an immovable object.
- Motorcycle chain locks when you need the flexibility and reach to secure your bike to a ground anchor, post or other fixed locking point.
- Motorcycle disc locks for compact security that fits through the brake disc and is easy to take with you.
- Ground and wall anchors for creating a permanent locking point at home, in a garage or wherever you regularly park.
Think about how you actually use your motorcycle. Where do you leave it? For how long? What can you lock it to? And, just as importantly, what security are you realistically going to carry every time you ride?
FAQs
What type of lock is best for a motorcycle?
It depends on where you park and how long you leave your motorcycle. A disc lock is compact and easy to carry when you’re riding, while a D lock or motorcycle chain can offer greater security for longer stops and higher-risk locations. At home, combining a strong lock and chain with a ground or wall anchor gives you a fixed locking point.
Are motorcycle disc locks secure?
A motorcycle disc lock fits through the brake disc, preventing the wheel from rotating freely. They’re compact, quick to use and easy to carry, which makes them particularly useful when you’re out riding. For higher-risk or longer-term parking, consider using a disc lock alongside another security measure.
Should I use a chain or D lock for my motorcycle?
Both have their advantages. A motorcycle chain gives you extra reach and flexibility when securing your bike to an immovable object, while a D lock offers a more compact option with less room for an attacker to work when fitted correctly. Your choice should reflect where you normally park and what you can securely lock your motorcycle to.
Can motorcycle locks resist angle grinders?
Some high-security motorcycle D locks and disc locks are specifically designed to increase resistance time against angle-grinder attacks. No lock is completely angle-grinder proof, so we focus on making an attack take more time, effort and resources.
What's the best way to secure a motorcycle at home?
Where possible, lock your motorcycle to a securely installed ground or wall anchor using a high-security motorcycle chain and lock. Adding another security device, such as a D lock or disc lock, creates an additional layer an attacker has to overcome.
Do I need a different motorcycle lock for touring?
Not necessarily, but portability becomes much more important when you’re carrying your security on the bike. A compact disc lock or D lock can be easier to take on a tour than a heavy chain. Think about where you expect to park overnight as well as the stops you’ll make during the day.
Where should I put a disc lock on my motorcycle?
A disc lock is fitted through an opening in the motorcycle’s brake disc so the wheel can’t rotate freely. Always check that the lock fits your particular brake disc correctly, and remember to remove it before riding away.
