This week was the first trade show in our 2019 calendar, COREBIKE. This show is always a great chance for brands to announce their plans for the year ahead, show off new products and engage with the industry. When we weren’t manning the Hiplok stand meeting old friends and making new ones, we took a wander around the show to check out some of the coolest things other brands in the industry were exhibiting.
THE MASTERÂ
As part of a fantastic collaboration between two celebrated brands, the Colnago Master X-Light Adidas combines the traditional styling of the Colnago Master with the iconic three stripes for an extremely limited edition version of the classic Colnago road bike frameset complete with the striking Prescia chromed fork. Seeing it in the flesh gave us a chance to appreciate the Adidas themed serigraphs and sleek steel tubing built up here as a timeless example of traditional styling and current componentry.
MADE FOR CITIES
One of the product ranges unveiled at the show was another fantastic collaboration between two well-known brands. Brompton have teamed up with cycle apparel luminaries Endura to launch a premium clothing range of 7 garments, named after their Brompton Junction store locations and designed for urban riders and Brompton users. Being design-nerds ourselves, our picks of the bunch featured some really cleverly designed and useful touches within the garments. The London windproof glove keeps your hands warm on the commute and features hidden magnets to attach the gloves to the Brompton frame or handlebars when not in use. Meanwhile the London 3L Waterproof Jacket has not only a 15k waterproof and breathability rating, but also has five super-reflective tabs that can be hidden when not needed adding safety to your ride without compromising style.
A REAL LOOKER
LOOK say it’s the fastest, smoothest and most versatile bike they have even produced. That’s a bold claim, but the 795 Blade RS certainly looks the part! With their new 3S Technology, they have removed the bridge on the seatstays, creating a longer and more curved profile which promises to improve transfer of power to back wheel traction. Ensuring a combination of supreme aerodynamic performance matched with incredible stiffness and stability, LOOK have created the 795 Blade RS with the aim of the perfect road bike and it doesn’t look very far from it. How about that fork clearance!
URBAN ART
Bikes are often described as works of art, but this 10th Anniversary edition of All-City’s Mr Pink truly is one! Within the gilded picture frame hangs an ‘all-road’ designed frame made from high-end Columbus Zona tubing, a Whisky Parts carbon fork and THAT incredible paint job. The Mr Pink combines the classic feel of a steel road bike with a relaxed riding position designed to keep you comfortable all day in the saddle whether on road, city streets or gravel.
BLINGED & BELTED
Sure, Hope Technology’s stand had their new HB130 29er trail bike, but what really caught our eye was this fully Hope equipped Early Rider Belter! It might just be the parent in us, but this could be the most enviable kids bike ever! We’re big Early Rider advovates here at Hiplok, and combining those bikes with super high end Hope technology looks like a match made in heaven. As part of the Hope Academy scheme, parents can sign up to a child’s bike rental scheme that grows as their children do! Uptake on the scheme has been so successful Hope have unfortunately had to close registration at the current time.
SAVING THE BEST ‘TILL LAST?
Last but not least, the reaction to our new combination locking wearable chain lock, the SPIN has been fantastic. It’s been a great few days at the show, and all the compliments and feedback on our new product makes it even better! See what we think might be the perfect bike lock to ride with and get the lowdown on how it was designed and the idea behind its conception here.
