Chain LOCKS

Bike chains are made from series of hardened steel links. You can buy the chain on its own and pair it with a lock. Or you can buy bike chain that already has a lock attached.

Chain locks come in various lengths and thicknesses. The one you need depends on your purpose and security needs.

All of Hiplok bike chains come with:

• Anti-scratch sleeve: prevent frame scratches - all chain locks have a fabric sleeve
• Hardened steel construction: protect against attack methods such as bolt croppers
• Replaceable keys or code reminders: If you forget your combination code, you can ask us for a reminder. If you lose your keys, you can order replacements

There are two types of lock we sell. The one you need depends on whether you are locking at home, on-the-move or both.

• On-the-Move (wearable) bike chain locks: ORIGINAL, SPIN, GOLD, SILVER, LITE

The best bike lock is one you can take with you. The easiest way to transport a chain lock is to wear it. This is what our wearable chain locks are all about.

You can safely wear around your waist without locking it to your body. In doing so, you carry the weight of the lock around your waist, and don't inhibit your cycling. In fact, it’s quite easy to forget you’re carrying a lock at all!

Our wearable chain bike locks have padlocks that are used to secure one end of the chain to another.

• At home (loop end chains): X CHAIN, XL CHAIN, E-DX CHAIN, MEGA CHAIN, HOME SILVER, HOME GOLD

These bike chains secure your bike at home. This means they don't need to be portable. Instead, they're longer and heavier for extra security at home.

Rather than having a lock, these chains have a loop end design. This is where you thread one end of the chain through the other. This creates a loop you can tighten around your bike. You then secure the loop to your anchor point, using a separate D lock or padlock.

Attached to a secure fixing point or anchor (like the Hiplok ANKR), you can use these chains to secure multiple bikes at home.

Easy to spot

Given the size of chain locks, they're usually quite obvious to a would-be bike thief. The mere sight of a bike lock is often enough to deter the opportunist thief.

Flexibility

The nature of chain locks for bikes makes them easy and flexible to use. This means you can lock your bike to a wide variety of objects. This is particularly handy if you have a large bike, such as an E-bike or cargo bike. Similarly, if you’ve got more than one bike to secure, a chain lock would be ideal.

Home Security

Chain locks are a great option for securing your bike at home. Combined with a wall or ground anchor, such as Hiplok ANKR, you’ve got a decent security set up. They are also particularly useful when securing multiple bikes together.

Security levels

At Hiplok, we work closely with independent bodies to certify our locks. Most of our chain locks carry a Sold Secure rating, to help signify how strong each lock is.

Ultimately, the bigger the lock, the thicker the chain, the stronger it is. When choosing a lock, consider:

• The location you lock in and how long
• How long you leave your bike for
